The beginning of '47
| The story of '47 began with two twin boys, Arthur and Henry, who immigrated to America from Italy. The first English word the two, who couldn't speak any English at all, learned was "two cents." This was the price of the newspapers they sold around Fenway Park, the home stadium of the Boston Red Sox, to earn a living. |
| In 1947, the two began selling baseball merchandise such as pennants, which were not yet widespread at the time, and it excited many baseball fans. Named "'47" after that year, the '47 business started here. |
'47 and the Boston Red Sox
| Since the twins, Arthur and Henry, then 12 years old, immigrated to America in 1938, the place they had always spent their time was Fenway Park, the home stadium of the Boston Red Sox. As time passed, Arthur's four sons also, from a young age, found Fenway Park to be their workplace, home, and school. For the D'Angelo family, the "Boston Red Sox" are a special team and they have an inseparable relationship. In recognition of his achievements, Arthur was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2018. |
