A classic coverall that faithfully reproduces the 50s PAY・DAY model

This limited edition 2066SS model faithfully reproduces the decorative stitching (embroidery) using the same cotton thread as back then, and fully reissues the "PENNEY'S PAY・DAY" brand name, paper flasher, and size tag, which are all hallmarks of PAY・DAY.

The raglan sleeves, unusual for workwear, increase the range of motion around the shoulders and create a distinctive rounded silhouette.

The fabric is made from rigid (unwashed) denim, allowing you to enjoy the unique texture and aging that comes with wear and washing.

Buttons

Tack buttons with "PAY DAY" engraved, replicating the original design.

"Tack" means a stud or pin in English, and this name comes from the structure where metal buttons are hammered into the fabric with a stud-like leg.

Compared to buttons sewn with thread, they are extremely strong and are often used for thick, stiff fabrics and areas that are subject to heavy loads.

Cuffs

Adjustable with button cuffs.

The prototype of cuffs is said to have originated from shirts in French high society around the 17th century, and American workwear developed from there.

Stitching

The decorative stitching (embroidery) uses the same cotton thread as back then, and the stitching, such as triple stitching, and even the thread color are faithfully reproduced.

Tag

Brand name tag with the original design on the left chest pocket.

Paper Flasher

Paper flasher on the inside of the right front body.

Paper flashers were originally guarantees that described the brand name, product number, and features with illustrations and text. Later, they also served as promotional advertisements when products were displayed in stores.

In modern vintage denim, the presence of a paper flasher is proof of its rarity (deadstock) and is highly valued by collectors.

Union Ticket

Union ticket inside the lower right pocket.

A union ticket is a cloth ticket found inside American workwear from the mid-20th century, sewn in as proof of belonging to a unionized manufacturer.

Labor unions encouraged workers to choose workwear with these tickets, and it became a standard for workers when choosing their work attire at the time.

Wearing image

We recommend a coordinate that highlights the coverall's presence by pairing it with simple innerwear and pants.

When pairing with denim pants, you can create a vintage feel while preventing a sloppy look by creating a color difference between the top and bottom.

For women, pairing it oversized with feminine patterned items can create a trendy relaxed look.

Size

・Sizes are actual measurements taken flat, and there may be some errors depending on the measurement method.
・This product uses unwashed raw denim, and shrinkage and color fading will occur with wear and washing.
・There is a possibility of color transfer during washing, so we recommend washing separately.

PAY・DAY | About Payday

PAY・DAY is one of the store brands launched by J.C. Penney, a major American department store, in the 1920s. With the brand name meaning "payday," the company aimed to provide tough clothing that working people could easily pick up in their daily lives and wear with peace of mind, starting with workwear such as coveralls and overalls.

From the outset, PAY・DAY consistently pursued the functionality of workwear, and as such, all items are stripped of any unnecessary details, resulting in sophisticated, simple, and functional designs.

In particular, its representative works such as coveralls and engineer jackets have been supported as classic items not only by fans who love good old American workwear but also in the fashion scene.

Currently, planning and production are carried out in Japan, and while faithfully reproducing the vintage atmosphere, the brand develops collections that match modern styling.

"Even today, that unchanging universal concept continues to express the charm of the wearer." That is PAYDAY's workwear.
